Andreas Späth (or Spaeth) was born at Rossach near Coburg, Germany on Oct. 9, 1790 and died at Gotha on April 26, 1876. In the Cyclopedia of Music and Musicians by Zwillingsbruder (1893), Späth is described as a “dramatic and church composer” having composed over 250 works. In 2005 I was commissioned by film preservationist David Shepard to compose a whole new score for a well known silent feature film made in 1927. My score was performed and recorded by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra with DVD produced by Image Entertainment listed as 'Special Edition'.
